The Beatitudes
Our agency was commissioned to redesign the book cover for The Beatitudes by Pastor Benny Ho, a title that explores the eight primary statements of blessing spoken by Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount.
Research into the text revealed how each beatitude — from “Blessed are the poor in spirit” to “Blessed are the meek” — presents an upside-down view of blessing, where those of lowly spirit are lifted in the eyes of Heaven. This inversion became the core inspiration for the new design concept.
To reflect this “upside-down kingdom” idea, the cover design employs a mirror-image composition, symbolising the reversal of earthly values that The Beatitudes embody. The mountain, referencing the historical Mount of Beatitudes overlooking the Sea of Galilee, anchors the design.
It appears inverted on the front cover, where the top half mirrors the base, creating a visual metaphor for Heaven meeting earth — for blessing found in humility, and strength in surrender.

The book title, The Beatitudes, echoes this concept with a subtle mirrored typography effect, reinforcing the duality of the message. The back cover continues this visual narrative, depicting the mountain and the tranquil Sea of Galilee, grounding the design in both historical context and spiritual reflection.

The result is a book cover that visually translates the profound paradox of The Beatitudes — a reminder that in God’s kingdom, the lowly are exalted, and true blessing is found in the upside-down.
